1. OUR MUSIC ON THE INTERNET TIPS
We recently looked at MixCloud, which is kind of social radio for
the internet (but much better than radio, I think we can agree).
This week we look at a different but similarly named website,
called SoundCloud:
http://www.soundcloud.com/
First off, it's free, at least for most. It sells itself as a site
where musicians can upload music, and others can download it. The
musicians or producers get the chance to show off their music how
they wish, with widgets to allow it to be posted on their own
sites and other gimmicky bits too; and the users get a chance to
listen to it and even download it depending on the options chosen
by the uploaders.
Like MixCloud, it's very social, with following, followers, groups,
comments, friends etc. You can follow producers, DJs, friends etc and
get an ecosystem of similar people who can help you get to the good
stuff quickly. There are DJs who ONLY play stuff they found on
SoundCloud, in order to stay upfront - it's that good. Try it!
* Is there a music sharing service you can't do without? Please hit
"reply" and let me know. I'd love to hear from you.
2. QUOTES FROM THE DJ BOOTH
"Someone pays me a hundred bucks every Tuesday to DJ. I don't think
I'll ever give that up." - Shannyn Sossamon
That's all until next time. Feel free to post any queries,
suggestions or tips of your own on our Facebook discussion
