Dicas de DJ

1. OUR MUSIC ON THE INTERNET TIPS This week's tip for the digital DJ searching out new, unreleased, novel and interesting music online is a website called The Hype Machine. http://hypem.com/ The Hype Machine is a blog music aggregator. All over the internet, music fans are posting tunes on blogs. Trouble is, each blog may have a few new tunes a week at best on it. To visit them all would be impossible. Plus, how do you know if the tunes they're finding are any good without finding and listening to them all individually? Enter The Hype Machine. It's a bit like an RSS reader, but for music posted on blogs. The home page features the latest tunes found on blogs, all playable from on-page play buttons (there's a music player at the bottom of every page). As well as playing tunes, you can "love" them - like Last FM. There's a popular tunes section (like a top 50 chart of Hype Machine tunes), and various other features including best-of-year, blog rolls, even gigs near you. Bookmark it now - it's totally free. Oh, and there's an iPhone app too, which is also free. * What are your "secret" sources of blog music? Is there a blog "aggregator" you swear by? Please hit "reply" and let me know! 2. QUOTES FROM THE DJ BOOTH "I am amazed at radio DJ's today. I am firmly convinced that AM on my radio stands for Absolute Moron. I will not begin to tell you what FM stands for."- Jasper Carrott (hey, he's a comedian not a DJ but it made me smile) That's all until next time. Dicas de Fotografia - Fotos em Shows

A Guest Post by Guy Prives .

A Guest Post by Nick Fleming Many years ago I met a well known English artist while I was travelling through Northern India. We happened to be staying at the same hotel, one of those rather agreeable converted palaces. Each day he went out with his watercolours, easel,  portable chair and sizable sketch books, as he used to say, ‘to seek inspiration and watch the world go by.’ One late afternoon I saw him, brush in hand, stooped over his easel and decided to see how he was getting on. He was well on his way to finishing his scene but as I looked from his picture to the view, and back again, I instantly noticed how different they were. What he had done was to omit a lot of detail and add some of his own. He explained to me that he rarely painted exactly what was in front of him. ‘I go for simplicity, he said. ‘ I paint what I think my picture needs, what makes it work, not necessarily what I see.’ ‘It is of course a representation, I am distilling the scene but I like to fill it wi...
