Aprenda a pensar e compor como um pintor

A Guest Post by Nick Fleming Many years ago I met a well known English artist while I was travelling through Northern India. We happened to be staying at the same hotel, one of those rather agreeable converted palaces. Each day he went out with his watercolours, easel,  portable chair and sizable sketch books, as he used to say, ‘to seek inspiration and watch the world go by.’ One late afternoon I saw him, brush in hand, stooped over his easel and decided to see how he was getting on. He was well on his way to finishing his scene but as I looked from his picture to the view, and back again, I instantly noticed how different they were. What he had done was to omit a lot of detail and add some of his own. He explained to me that he rarely painted exactly what was in front of him. ‘I go for simplicity, he said. ‘ I paint what I think my picture needs, what makes it work, not necessarily what I see.’ ‘It is of course a representation, I am distilling the scene but I like to fill it wi...

Digital Djs Tips - 12-09-2011

1. OUR MUSIC ON THE INTERNET TIPS We recently looked at MixCloud, which is kind of social radio for the internet (but much better than radio, I think we can agree). This week we look at a different but similarly named website, called SoundCloud: http://www.soundcloud.com/ First off, it's free, at least for most. It sells itself as a site where musicians can upload music, and others can download it. The musicians or producers get the chance to show off their music how they wish, with widgets to allow it to be posted on their own sites and other gimmicky bits too; and the users get a chance to listen to it and even download it depending on the options chosen by the uploaders. Like MixCloud, it's very social, with following, followers, groups, comments, friends etc. You can follow producers, DJs, friends etc and get an ecosystem of similar people who can help you get to the good stuff quickly. There are DJs who ONLY play stuff they found on SoundCloud, in orde...

Aprendendo Na prática!

A Guest Post by David Powell from Shoot Tokyo  Here are a few lessons I have learnt from daily shooting… I hope you enjoy. 1. “Do or Do Not…. There is no Try” A lot of people shoot daily as they are lucky enough to have a career in photography. Others embark on a 365 project while others just take photos all the time. I decided after I started ShootTokyo that I wanted to shoot daily as a way to try and rapidly improve my photography.   Shooting daily isn’t hard. It does require dedication, creatively and planning. It actually gets significantly easier with time as well. When I first started I would rack my brain for something interesting to photography but now you can put me just about anywhere for 10 minutes and I can find lots of ways to photograph it. 2. Bring your Camera Everywhere To capture great images you need to have your camera with you.  People always ask me where I find the time to shoot. Honestly I shoot whatever is in front of me where ever I am going. Most of t...
